Josefino Ymzon Cenizal

Josefino Cenizal learned to play the piano when at the age of eight his mother enrolled him under Francisco Santiago, the director of the UP Conservatory of Music. At first Santiago refused to accept him at the conservatory because he could not read music. But after his mother’s pleading he was accepted on the condition that he perform all the assigned lessons. When Santiago heard him play the piano, Cenizal earned the privilege of being a regular student in the conservatory. Cenizal also studied voice under Reysio-Cruz and Mossesgeld Santiago. He received a foreign service degree from Lyceum in 1954 and a law degree from the Manila Law College in 1948. He was married to Olivia Cenizal (Gloria Maigue in real life). His most popular compositions are love songs.
